I'm sure everyone's already heard, but just in case you haven't... we're having a BABY!
14 weeks today!
It's taken me a while to get it up here... I am so lazy about blogging these days. :) Reading other blogs of pregnant first-timers has really helped me get through the nausea. And lots and lots of baby pictures. Doesn't matter whose baby it is.
Anyhoo, so maybe I'll write about my experience. Or maybe you want to be spared the details? Here's one funny thing. Before getting pregnant, my whole life--I never had a sweet tooth. Never cared much for candy. Now, every time I see someone eating candy, or see it on the shelf at the store, or in an ad, I want it. Candy that I would never, never eat before--like swedish fish--I have been eating in handfuls. Last night I even dreamed about candy.
I've also been eating lots of potatoes. French fries, mashed, baked, you name it. Mmm... maybe I'll make potato salad today. That sounds good.
I did have a bad case of nausea for about 6 weeks. Some days I wanted to die. (Not really.) But then one morning, about two weeks ago, I woke up and it was gone. Completely. I am SO LUCKY! I haven't totally gotten my appetite back though. For example, I can't eat broccoli, dark chocolate, mint-chocolate, pizza, and especially avocado and ESPECIALLY guacamole. Thinking about it makes me sick.
For those of you concerned about my veg diet, I have been eating chicken noodle soup. And I have tried, with all my might, to eat some actual chicken. I haven't been able to yet. ANY IDEAS??? I think it will be good for my baby to have some meat. Maybe someone can grind it up and hide it in something else and I'll eat it without knowing... that might work. Anyway, everyone says that it's ok to have a vegetarian pregnancy if you eat right. So we'll see. I'm ok with eating meat though. If only I could do it.
So here are the books I'm reading... I am very interested to know which book YOU would suggest, or if you are against reading any of these:
HypnoBirthing
Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way
Fit Pregnancy for Dummies
What to Expect When You're Expecting
John and I are super excited. Our due date is August 18. I don't know if I can wait that long!

Congrats on the pregnancy!! I am sorry you were sick, but glad to know it is past and you are feeling better. The first and last trimesters are the worst, but for different reasons.
As far as books, I would read anything and everything you have time for. The library is a good source before you decide what books you actually want to buy.
Congrats again! We are so excited for you guys! And you are totally ahead of me on the whole reading pregnancy books thing :)
Grind it up and hide it in your food??? Yuck!
:)
We are super excited for you guys!!! We heard that Tyra is having a boy---so we'll be anxious to find out what you are having!=] Congrats!!! I ate starlight mints and sour candies like sweet tarts to help with the "yucky" feeling. I don't think I ever threw up, but just felt like I would, especially when I didn't eat for a while. =]
I'm SO GLAD that you're feeling better!!
I agree with Elizabeth-- you should read anything and everything you can get your hands on. I probably told you all about my experience with hypnobirthing and the book about it... I would definitely recommend reading it and choosing some of the breathing techniques, etc. but I wouldn't recommend swallowing every single claim she makes :) I'd really like to study the Bradley method during my next pregnancy, I think. I've heard a lot of really good things about it.
I really think that every person is different though, and it might be a mix of a LOT of different things that will help you.
You'll be (and already are) awesome!!
My birthday is August 22! Maybe your baby and I will share a b-day. Congratulations! Everyone is so excited for you both. :)
Congratulations Michele! That's so exciting. I'm glad you're feeling better. I honestly think the morning sickness is so bad so when you're in the 3rd trimester feeling terrible you can remember it isn't as bad as morning sickness. I hope you have a healthy happy pregnancy!
Thanks for the advice, everyone!!
Swedish fish are my favorite. We should have a swedish fish eating contest!
mostly i love the title of your blog. i can't remember if it's always been that but too funny. and i'm happy that you're having a baby because they're the best.
