Dear Everyone,

I want you all to watch this YouTube video.

And discuss it with me.

You always have the coolest blog-post titles. I often read blogs based upon how interesting their titles are...

So Josh and I watched this video while making dinner this evening. I found it very interesting.

It's true that we are breaking the law every day in simple ways...like burning cd's...

I appreciated the insights he brought up about community and connecting on whole new levels. He made the interesting point that as people become more independent, they need more interaction. Such a dichotomy.

I liked the "Free Hugs" guy. I wonder if I would take someone for real if they were giving out free hugs or if I would just be grossed out.

What are your ideas about the video, Bow?

Wow, I can't believe you guys actually watched it Adele! You're so cool. I loved this presentation because I am always trying to find more ways to connect with people and build communities and relationships. A lot of people criticize these new technologies we have for various reasons, and I think there are some truths to their arguments. But I think there are some really amazing things that are happening now that people can interact with their friends or complete strangers in only a few clicks. Technology has found another way for people to create and express and share in ways that were unimaginable a few years ago.

My mother posted a 3-minute video from my doctoral recital on YouTube back in March and it now has had almost 26,000 views. That's 1300 hours of viewing and I'm just an unknown bassoonist from Wyoming. People recognized me at the double reed conference this summer from my YouTube video! I would wager that my little video has been viewed many many more times than any of the professional solo recordings released by my teacher.

Isn't that unbelievable?

That is incredible. Josh and I actually saw yesterday how many views you had. That's so cool that people recognized you!!!! What a phenomenon.

I also think that Facebook is such a miracle. I can keep in touch with people who I haven't seen for years and years-- and without the internet I am sure I would never hear from them again.

And blogs are pretty cool, too.
